Dad, Now What’s for Dinner?: A New Collection of Family Favorites $55.98 It all started with the need to find something for dinner. From there it became a recipe, then a binder, then the first book, “Dad, what’s for Dinner?”. Now the tradition continues with a new and more expansive collection of recipes in “Dad, Now What’s for Dinner?” Dinnertime is really not just about the food, but great recipies never hurt. Dinnertime is really about sharing a special part of the day in the kitchen and around the table enjoying and connecting with each other as a family. This book helps to ease the task with delicious and easy to prepare recipes that can be prepared and enjoyed together. From the time of my childhood, through the efforts of my Mother and Grandmother, I came to love our time in the kitchen. Dinnertime is family time. We create recipes together, we cook together. We enjoy a meal together. We share our time together. It starts as a task and an idea for dinner. It ends with a strenghtened bond of family and memories around the table which will last forever. |

101 Diet Recipes $2.99 101 Diet Recipes (Healthy Vegetarian Recipes For Permanent Weight Loss)by Nita MehtaDiet Recipes are specially created keeping the calories as well as the nutritional aspect of each recipe in mind. For weight loss, a 1200-1400 Calorie Diet is an ideal choice. It is a good idea to divide the intake of food into 5 meals than to have 3 big meals. So, munching on a mid-morning snack like a fruit (apple/pear/guava etc.) makes a lot of sense. It keeps hunger pangs away, thus helping you to have a controlled portion of food at lunch time. In the same way, eating a snack in the evening like a home-made paneer sandwich or a piece of dhokla or sprout chaat or roasted channas, is also very beneficial for weight loss. The main 3 meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner should be well balanced with the right amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Out of the total calories, 45% of the calories should be from carbohydrates, 35% from proteins and 20% from fats. The breakfast should be of about 300-350 calories and this can comfortably include 2 light sandwiches or a small serving of upma or seviyaan (any one) with a glass of milk or lassi. The lunch can be of 2 chappatis, a small serving of yogurt and a good amount of vegetable. This would come upto 400 calories. Dinner can be lighter. Have an early dinner and avoid too much carbohydrates at this meal. If you like, eat two rotis for lunch but make it one for dinner. One chappati with a small katori of thin dal, a light salad and a vegetable would make upto 400 calories. Eating these foods will help you keep fit and slim with a glowing skin and healthy hair. I truly believe, “You are what you eat”.For an author bio and photo, reviews and a reading sample, visit http://www.nitamehta.com or mail to us at: & For addition information on publishing your books on iBook,iPhone And iPad please visit www.AppsPublisher.com |

A Taco Testimony: Meditations on Family, Food and Culture $2.46 Acclaimed author/actress Denise Chávez explores the history, lore, and preparation of tacos—and other art forms—in a warm and exuberant memoir, with recipes.”Tacos are sacred to me,” writes Chávez, who’s set many a fictional scene in a Southwestern restaurant or around a dinner table. And here are her special recipes, including her mother’s Tacos a la Delfina (“I swear these tacos are really good cold!”) and Granma Lupe’s Pasta (not macaroni but a savory mincemeat-like taco filling). Here, too, are tips on shopping, cooking, and serving: “Offer up the meal with gratitude and remember: Tacos are one of life’s greatest things!”"We live in chile country,” she adds. “We are blessed to be here. Food is more than food; it’s a culture. And tacos are more than tacos.”Chile country is the setting for Chávez’s magical, tragicomic fiction. And in A Taco Testimony she also tells wonderful stories that connect literature with culture and food with life along the Mexican-American border.”Time and love are the essence of all Mexican cooking,” Chávez says—including her spicy, juicy writing, and this feast of a book. |

A Taste of Acadie $16.95 For A Taste of Acadie, Melvin Gallant and Marielle Cormier-Boudreau travelled all over Acadia, from the Gaspé Peninsula to Cape Breton, from the tip of Prince Edward Island to the Magdalen Islands, and around northern New Brunswick and southern Nova Scotia. They gathered the culinary secrets of traditional Acadian cooks while there was still time, and then they adapted more than 150 recipes for today’s kitchens. First published in 1991, A Taste of Acadie, the popular English translation of the best-selling Cuisine traditionalle en Acadie, is available once again. The indigenous cuisine of Acadia is a distant relative of French home cooking, born of necessity and created from what was naturally available. Roast porcupine or seal-fat cookies may not be to every modern diner’s taste, but the few recipes of this nature in A Taste of Acadie hint at the ingenuity of women who fed their families with what the land provided. Most of the recipes, however, use ingredients beloved of today’s cooks. Here you’ll find fricot, a wonder of the Acadian imagination, pot en pot, a traditional Sunday dinner sometimes called grosse soupe, and dozens of meat pies. For those with a sweet tooth, Gallant and Cormier-Boudreau include recipes that use maple syrup and fresh wild berries. A Taste of Acadie is traditional cooking at its best, suffusing contemporary kitchens with country aromas and down-home flavours. Decorated with evocative woodcuts by Michiel Oudemans, it is a pleasure to look at and a charming addition in its own right to contemporary country-style kitchens. |

A Taste of the Caribbean $9.99 Food is an integral part of the culture in the Caribbean and at some point in time, one should experience this richness by paying a visit to the Tropics. However, not everyone has the opportunity to get there so I will take you there through a selection of palatable dishes. I grew up in the Caribbean and was always passionate about good food because as a youngster, I most times wanted a second helping. My mother is definitely the best cook whom I have eaten from. That’s what I always said because the food tasted better the second time around. After migrating to the United States, I had to acquire a new taste. Luckily for me, I was able to find a job in the College campus cafeteria where I worked for four and a half years. While the food on campus tasted well, I was always yearning to eat those dishes that I grew up with. Living off campus gave me an opportunity to cook for myself and to experiment with recipes. If I could not find the authentic ingredients then I would improvise the recipe to finish the dish. One is never too old to get advice from mom on how to cook certain foods so when I got stuck with a certain dish, I would call her and ask her advice. I had many friends on campus from all over the world and what better way to test one’s cooking by inviting a couple of friends to dinner. No one asked what the recipe was, they just devoured it so that was my sign that the taste was there.I invite you to dinner and a trip to the Tropics by preparing some of these palatable dishes and acquiring a taste of the Caribbean. Thank you,Mervyn HemLee |

AROUND THE FRENCH TABLE: 24 Classic Home Recipes from France (Special Nook Edition With DirectLink Technology) (French Recipes / French Cooking / French Cookbook for Nook with Many 10 Minute Recipes and 30 Minute Meals) NOOKBook $2.99 EXCERPTS:”The very economy of the French is an art, and there is art in their economy. It is true that their dishes, as we have known them in this country, are expensive, even extravagant, but that is because they have been for the most part the creations of high-priced chefs. They who have made eating a vocation know that it is not necessary to dine expensively in order to dine well.”"There is inspiration in the art that enters into the production of a French dinner, in the perfect balance of every item from hors d’oeuvre to café noir, in the ways with seasoning that work miracles with leftovers and preserve the daily routine of three meals a day from the deadly monotony of the American régime, in the garnishings that glorify the most insignificant concoctions into objects of appetising beauty and in the sauces that elevate indifferent dishes into the realm of creations and enable a French cook to turn out a dinner fit for capricious young gods from what an American cook wastes in preparing one.”"Much of the interest that attaches to French cuisine is, of course, due to local atmosphere, to the associations that surround the quaint restaurants, half hidden in unexpected nooks and by-ways, to the fact that old Jacques “waits” in his shirtsleeves or that Grosse Marie serves you with a smile as expansive as her own proportions, or that it is Justin or François or “Old Monsoor,” with his eternal grouch, who glides about the zinc counter. But there is also magic in the arrangement of the menus, in the combinations of food, in the very names of the confections and in the little Gallic touches that, simple though they are, transform commonplace dishes into gastronomic delights.”SAMPLE RECIPE MENUS:• Consommé à la Madrilène• Perches aux Fines Herbes• Filets Mignons aux Pommes de |

Allergy Cuisine: Step by Step $15.95 Allergy Cuisine: No Gluten, No Dairy, No Food Additives, No Yeast, No Sugar, No Aged Foods, No Miscellaneous Food Allergens—Just Good Food! Allergy Cuisine is all about cooking without the foods that cause and aggravate food allergies, the “Seven Deadly Sins”: gluten, dairy, chemical additives, yeast, sugar, aged foods, and miscellaneous food allergens. What’s left to eat? That question is answered here utilizing three approaches that help the reader: 1. Flexibility: Many people with food allergies wish to avoid chemical additives in animal products, such as hormones, antibiotics, and insecticides, so recipes here are set up vegetarian but designed with the option to add meats, fish, or fowl if one wishes, or if meals are shared with people who eat animal foods. 2. User Friendliness: The person with food allergies wants to know what to eat for breakfast, for lunch, and for dinner—so that’s how the recipes are organized, including a special chapter devoted to holiday menus. 3. Satisfaction: The prevalent attitude seems to be that a book about healthy eating should be devoid of fat, but there’s a conflict with that attitude because fats are what make foods satisfying. Chapter Three, “Fats: No Longer a Four-Letter Word,” outlines the role that essential fatty acids play in healing food allergies and how to use these beneficial fats. |

Allergy-Free $17.95 Discovering one of her sons had a life-threatening allergy to nuts and eggs catapulted Alice Sherwood into the bewildering world of “food allergies.” How can you make a birthday cake without flour? What happens to family meals when packaged foods, which may contain traces of nuts, along with pasta, bread, and peanut butter become forbidden? Suddenly it became crucial to find alternatives, but most “cooking without” recipes lacked taste or contained unfamiliar ingredients that were hard to find. So Alice, armed with a lifelong love of food, got to work in the kitchen and devised her own recipes. The Allergy-Free Cookbook is unique. There are no dismal, “special diet” versions of recipes, which don’t work. Instead there are dishes from around the world that center on ingredients other than eggs, dairy, gluten, and nuts. Throughout, Alice gives several variations for each recipe. So a nut-free cake that uses butter, for example, may be adapted for the dairy-free crowd by using soy spread. The Allergy-Free Cookbook has more than 100 recipes for meals, snacks, and lunchboxes as well as for suppers and birthday parties. All the crowd-pleasing favorites are here. By experimenting with polenta and potato flour, for example, Alice has invented a gluten-free crunchy shortcrust pastry that’s superb in apple tarts, while rice, potato, and tapioca flours combine to form a dough that works a treat for French bread. With the Allergy-Free Cookbook, everyone’s invited to dinner! |

At Home with Magnolia: Classic American Recipes from the Owner of Magnolia Bakery $18.98 “After writing two dessert books, I’m really happy to finally put together a collection that includes not only desserts but a lot of my favorite savory food recipes that I’ve been copying down for friends and dinner guests for years. Many of the recipes in this book are things I learned to cook as a child and I’m still making today. But I’m also always experimenting with new ideas and different combinations of ingredients. The recipes I’ve gathered here reflect the all-American sensibilities of my bakery and my home. My style is the same whether I’m making something sweet or savory— simple steps, fresh ingredients, and classic combinations.” — Allysa Torey |
