italian foods
What are the staple foods of Italy? (Italian Cuisine)?

Also, someone could help me with Italian: * The menu of a typical day of culture when he immigrated to Australia * What culture brought to Australia (for example, the type of food, cooking methods, prepare, restaurants)

Staples? Depending on where you were in Italy. The only thing they all had in common places, however, is that eating lots of vegetables and pasta in general as well. The Italians, until recent years were, by American standards, a poor village, so he ate everything the season and could be grown on their own and locally sourced. As a child, I remember my grandfather always had chickens wandering immigrants in the backyard as preferred to buy at the store. At least in part, I think, to raise their cost savings that it offers. The culture has gone to Australia over immigration and made things much more than any other place. Italian Immigration Australian culture done differently than it carried out the culture in the United States or American South.

White Wine by Borgias from Veneto, Italy. This 100% garganega is grown 150 meters above sea level in the volcanic hills outside Verona. It displays its fine character when first poured through brilliant pale straw yellow and fresh and delicate scents including vine flowers and elderberry. Its taste is dry and tangy with hints of green apple. It pairs well with many foods including antipasti, rice dishes, baked fish, grilled white meats and vegetable soups. The Borgias on SHOWTIME Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons will star in the epic drama series as Rodrigo Borgia, the cunning, manipulative patriarch of The Borgia family who ascends to the highest circles of power within Renaissance-era Italy. The Borgias will be a complex, unvarnished portrait of one of history’s most intriguing and infamous dynastic families. The series begins as the family’s patriarch Rodrigo (Jeremy Irons) becomes Pope, propelling him, his two Machiavellian sons, Cesare and Juan, and his scandalously beautiful daughter, Lucrezia, to become the most powerful and influential family of the Italian Renaissance. About the Label Design The Borgias wine label design combines the elements of tradition, simplicity and elegance. Created by emerging graphic designer Elliot Cohen, the inspiration for the labels was the Borgia family crest. The bull symbolized the power of the Borgia family in Italy.

 Christmas Dinner

Christmas Dinner

$43.99

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Christmas dinner is the primary meal traditionally eaten on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. In many ways the meal is similar to a standard Sunday dinner. Christmas feasts have traditionally been luxurious and abundant. King John of England, in the year 1213, ordered about 3,000 capons, 1,000 salted eels, 400 hogs, 100 pounds of almonds and 24 casks of wine for his Christmas feast. Christmas dinner around the world may differ and the traditions present below can reflect the culture of the respective country it is being celebrated in. Turkey is present in a fair number of these meals. In Poland, traditional Christmas Eve meals include one or more of the following foods: Golabki filled with Kasza, Pierogi, Borscht, fish soup, carp, and pickled Herring. Krupnik is sometimes drunk after dinner. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the meal features a fish soup and breaded roasted carp with potato salad. Italian Catholics eat seven types of seafood. In some parts of Eastern Europe such as Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania, a traditional meatless 12-dishes Christmas Eve Supper is served on Christmas Eve.

 Edible Brooklyn: The Cookbook

Edible Brooklyn: The Cookbook

$11.58

“Brooklyn, New York is a foodie destination, but not a snobby one, and this cookbook follows suit. It is filled with unpretentious recipes from the locals–artisans and chefs and ordinary folk–who love their New York borrow and go out of their way to celebrate the vast array of local foods produced there. And, like the eclectic population–Italian, Asian, Polish, Mexican, you name it– you never know what you are going to find when you turn the page. The fun comes in reading about the contributor, finding out what that person does, then seeing what they have created. Even the chapters are a little bit unusual. When was the last time you saw one for fingerfood, pickles, and sides? Part travel guide, part cookbook, part great read, this book, the first in a series of FOUR Edible cookbooks, offers a front row seat to one of American’s most exciting food fests”–

Food Culture in the Mediterranean

Food that originated from the Mediterranean area is incredibly popular. Pasta, pizza, gyros, kebab, and falafel can be found just about everywhere. Many people throughout the world have a good idea of what Mediterranean cuisine and diet are all about, but they know less about the entire food culture of the region. This one-stop source provides the broadest possible understanding of food culture throughout the region, giving a variety of examples and evidence from the southern Mediterranean or North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt), the Western Mediterranean or European side of the Mediterranean (Spain, France, Italy, and the French and Italian islands), to the eastern Mediterranean or Levant (Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel). The Mediterranean region region is home to three of the world’s major religions, and for centuries, the Mediterranean Sea has been an invitation to trade, travel, conquest, and immigration. Where different cultures, beliefs, and traditions mix there is always volatility and tension, but there is also great energy. Understanding the food culture in the Mediterranean is one way readers can see how people of different regions come together, share ideas and information to create new dishes, meals, traditions, and forms of sociability. This volume answers questions such as Do people in the Mediterranean still eat the Mediterranean Diet or do they eat American style? "Joan Nathan has created a masterful blend of food and culture. She takes her reader on an extraordinary journey through the history of the land of Israel and the development of modern Israeli food. I was delighted to visit all the different ethnic communities that have contributed to Israeli cuisine, and my mouth watered just imagining the feast that Joan Nathan describes."—Teddy Kollek, former mayor of JerusalemIn this richly evocative book, Joan Nathan captures the spirit of Israel today by exploring its multifaceted cuisine. She delves into the histories of the people already settled in this nearly barren land, as well as those who immigrated and helped to quickly transform it into a country bursting with new produce. It is a dramatic and moving saga, interlarded with more than two hundred wonderful recipes that represent all the varied ethnic backgrounds. Every recipe has a story, and through these tales the story of Israel emerges.Nathan shows how a typical Israeli menu today might include Middle Eastern hummus, a European schnitzel (made with native-raised turkey) accompanied by a Turkish eggplant salad and a Persian rice dish, with, perhaps, Jaffa Orange Delight for dessert. On Friday nights she visits with home cooks who may be preparing a traditional Libyan, Moroccan, Italian, or German meal for their families, the Sabbath being the focal point of the week throughout Israel (all her recipes are accordingly kosher). And she takes us to markets overflowing with vegetables, fruits, herbs, and spices. To gather the recipes and the stories, Nathan has been traveling the length and breadth of Israel for many years—to a SyrianAlawite village on the northern border for a vegetarian kubbeh and to Bet She’an for potato burekas; to the Red Sea for farmed sea bream and to the Sea of Galilee for St. Peter’s fish; to Jerusalem’s Bukharan Quarter for Iraqi pita bread baked in a wood-fired clay oven, to the Nahlaot

“As far as I’m concerned, Southern cookery is right there on the same level with French cuisine bourgeoise and Italian cucina casereccia—the sacred traditions, the incredible variety of regional dishes, the prevalence of fresh local ingredients, the distinctive cooking techniques, everything.”—James VillasNo one is more passionate about Southern cooking than James Villas, who has written eloquently about barbecue, Brunswick stew, grits, fried okra, and other Southern specialties throughout his long and distinguished career as a food writer and an editor at Town & Country magazine. Now, Villas has at last written the cookbook he was always meant to write—the definitive compendium of classic and modern Southern recipes. The Glory of Southern Cooking is a labor of love—a book that draws on Villas’s fond food memories from his North Carolina boyhood and his lifelong quest for the tastiest Southern fare. In it, you’ll find Villas’s authentic recipes for familiar Southern favorites, such as fried chicken, pork barbecue, collard greens, cornbread, and cobblers. But you’ll also discover thoroughly delicious regional specialties, many of which are largely unknown outside the locale where they originated—South Carolina Frogmore Stew, Florida Conch Fritters, Mississippi Fried Dill Pickles, and Tennessee Monkey Bread, to name a few. To top it all off, Villas also includes exciting new dishes from some of the South’s most esteemed and innovative chefs, including Louis Osteen, Frank Stitt, Ben and Karen Barker, Paul Prudhomme, Paula Dean, Emeril Lagasse, and the late Edna Lewis. This celebration of Southern food offers 388 glorious recipes for every meal and occasion—everything from tea foods, chowders, and casseroles to barbecue, desserts, and pickles. In the Hands of A Chef: Cooking with Jody Adams of Rialto Restaurant

$16.99

How do great chefs make their food taste better? Is it the ingredients they use? Their cooking techniques and equipment? That’s part of the answer. But the real secret is that truly great chefs follow their instincts — the kitchens in their heads. Now, in her first cookbook, Jody Adams, the award-winning chef/co-owner of Boston’s Rialto, teaches you how to follow your own instincts and make the transition from passionate eater to passionate cook.In the Hands of a Chef shares Jody’s favorite dishes, those she prepares for family and friends in her home kitchen. By teaching the basics of artisanal cooking, or making good food from scratch, she gives cooks a solid foundation for cooking like a chef. She tells readers what to look for when buying ingredients, what equipment is essential, and how a dish should look and taste while being prepared.Above all, Jody encourages readers to trust their instincts and follow them to create a cooking style that feels right, using recipes as the building blocks for their own creations. From starters, seasonal soups, salads, and main courses to desserts, Jody reinvents Mediterranean foods using unconventional ingredients, many from New England. For a boost of summer flavor, grilled tomatoes add depth to gazpacho. To vary the flavor of simple salads — from a Minted Romaine Salad with Grapes, Ricotta Salata, and Toasted Almonds to Arugula and Portobella Mushroom Salad-one or two seasonal ingredients are added to the usual recipes. Drawing inspiration from Italian tradition, Jody offers up innovative pasta and grains dishes. Ravioli, pappardelle, gnocchi, and linguine are served up with Mediterranean flavors and ingredients— tomatoes, olives, figs, chestnuts, fresh greens, wild mushrooms, Parmesan cheese — for home-style meals any time of the year. Yet much of Jody’s cooking is pure American in flavor. Dessert classics are reinvented with new twists, such as Super-Creamy Rice Pudding with Passion
