What foods are tasty lactose free?
I am lactose intolerant and I have to change some of the things to eat. The only problem is that almost everything I have lactose in it. I tried some of the "substitute soy products," but it tastes disgusting. Once, I tried soy yogurt, serious and very unpleasant taste. The same goes for soy "cheese." I'm fine with LACTAID. I managed to find lactose-free butter. But still difficult to control my diet. I almost can not eat 3 / 4 of the things I like because they have lactose. What advice would you give?
Lactose intolerance is the how your body tells you it can not handle dairy products. And not alone. Most humans beyond the age of two can not digest lactose, and more people are allergic to milk protein, casein. Think about it: No other species on the planet consumed the milk of another species, and other no species consumes milk after infancy. Cow's milk is the perfect food for calves. However, its high content of protein also fats cholesterol saturated animal, and hormones are a very healthy humans. Apart from lactose intolerance and allergy, dairy consumption is linked with all sorts of health problems like diabetes, heart disease, breast, ovarian and prostate cancer, obesity, asthma and osteoporosis (yes, you read good!) to name a few. Consider yourself lucky that your body asks you to lay off the dairy. Find alternatives to rice, almonds, soybeans, oats and milk coconut instead of looking for dairy products contain less lactose, and you will be healthier all around. Delicious alternatives abound! Do not give up until you find the ones you like. Some of my personal favorites: milk: Coconut milk drink so delicious butter: Earth Balance butter cream cheese spreads: Gourmet Vegetarian cream cheese, or better alternative to cream cheese, Tofutti sour cream, sour cream or yogurt Gourmet Vegetarian Alternative Tofutti better than cream safe: that delicious coconut milk yogurt cheese: Dr. Cow cheese Nut Topping Whipped Cream: Whip cream Soyatoo for coffee if Creamer delicious coconut milk, kefir, ice cream so delicious with milk kefir Coconut: purely decadent coconut ice cream made with milk

Cooking Without Milk: Milk-Free and Lactose-Free Recipes $16.95 Cooking Without Milk is a straightforward, commonsense cookbook for the 50 million people in America who have milk or lactose intolerances or allergies. Unlike most of the current milk-free cookbooks that are free of lactose but not necessarily of milk, Cooking Without Milk is completely milk-free, with more than 550 recipes and variations of the foods people eat regularly with ingredients found in most grocery stores today. Many current milk-free cookbooks assume that lactose is the only problem ingredient in milk, require ingredients that are hard to find, and presume that cooks are mainly interested in making gourmet, time-consuming dishes. Cooking Without Milk, however, assumes that most people who cook milk-free don’t want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Cooking is not their only pastime.Cooking Without Milk includes a wide range of recipes — main dishes, vegetables, soups, sandwiches, egg dishes, breads, deserts, beverages, and sauces, gravies, and glazes. Also included are guides to the role of milk and milk products in diet, high-lactose foods to avoid, a guide to calcium and calcium-rich foods, and other useful information for those who cannot consume milk. The author also suggests ways in which to determine one’s level of milk intolerance, how to live comfortably while avoiding milk, eating in restaurants, accepting invitations that involve meals, milk products in medications, knowing how to find hidden milk in the ingredients of everyday foods, what to be careful about when buying from an in-store deli, and a list of Web sites for those who want to research milk intolerance for themselves. |

Sodium Acetate $43.99 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sodium acetate, (also sodium ethanoate) is the sodium salt of acetic acid. It is an inexpensive chemical produced in industrial quantities for a wide range of uses.Sodium acetate is used in the textile industry to neutralize sulfuric acid waste streams, and as a photoresist while using aniline dyes. It is also a pickling agent in chrome tanning, and it helps to retard vulcanization of chloroprene in synthetic rubber production.Sodium acetate may be added to foods as a seasoning. It may be used in the form of sodium diacetate – a 1:1 complex of sodium acetate and acetic acid, given the E-number E262. A frequent use of this form is in salt and vinegar chips in the United States. Many US brands, including national manufacturer Frito Lay, sell “salt and vinegar flavored” chips that use this chemical, with lactose and smaller percentages of other chemicals, in lieu of a real salt and vinegar preparation. |

The Food Allergy Cure: A New Solution to Food Cravings, Obesity, Depression, Headaches, Arthritis, and Fatigue $2.73 Food allergies are one of the most common chronic medical conditions. Dr. Ellen Cutler, a chiropractor and naturopath, has spent ten years studying enzyme therapy and nutrition and their relationship to allergies, asthma, immune disorders, and chronic diseases. Using methods derived from many disciplines — including chiropractic, Eastern medicine, immunology, environmental medicine, genetics, and Western physiology and physics — Dr. Cutler has found a way to combat allergies at their root: the immune response. Her system of techniques, called BioSET?, combines muscle testing, detoxification, enzyme and diet therapy, and chiropractic manipulation to desensitize people permanently to every kind of allergy, not only those caused by foods. To understand how Dr. Cutler’s techniques work, it’s helpful to think of the body as an electromagnetic organism in which energy flows along invisible pathways called meridians, or channels. Essentially, an allergic response is caused when these pathways are blocked by the immune response to an allergen. Dr. Cutler’s techniques actually unblock these pathways, thus stopping the body’s violent immune response. The Food Allergy Cure teaches you how to test yourself to determine the allergies you have and gives you simple techniques you can perform on yourself or your children to begin to lead an allergy-free life. In addition, there are helpful lists of foods and enzymes to correct digestive disorders such as lactose intolerance, chronic heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, and constipation. Dr. Cutler also recommends foods that support the immune system’s functioning and work to alleviate such disorders as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, fibromyalgia, colitis, herpes, and candida. This blending of Eastern and Western medicine is so easy to implement and will be hailed as a new paradigm of twenty-first-century medicine. For the ninety million people who experience food allergies and haven’t found relief |

The Story Of Sugar $14.14 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:CHAPTER III SUGAR AS A FOOD Sugars and starches constitute the large class of foods called carbohydrates, which being entirely free of nitrogen are often designated as the non- nitrogenous foodstuffs. They contain carbon in connection with hydrogen and oxygen, and are easily converted by oxidation into fats. The ease of this process makes it an important foodstuff for the generation of heat and the maintenance of physical strength. Cane sugar has a heat or energy producing value as great as lean meat, which is a typical proteid or nitrogenous foodstuff. Sugars are divided chemically into two classes, single (monosaccharid) and double (disaccharid) sugars. Grape sugar (dextrose, C6H1206) and fruit sugar (levulose, C6H12O6) are the most common monosaccharids; and cane sugar (sucrose, C12H22O,j), milk sugar (lactose, C12H22O11.H20), and malt sugar (maltose, CHO.HoO) are themost common of the disaccharids. Attention is called to these two classes of sugars for the reason that cane sugar, a disaccharid, must be converted into a monosaccharid before it can be assimilated in the body for the formation of organic tissue and the production of bodily heat and energy. The change is effected either during or immediately preceding absorption. It is of interest to note that practically none of the sugars absorbed enter the circulation through the lymphatic system, but are conveyed into the portal vein, through which they are carried to the liver. Sugar is an essential food for the blood, but to prevent the assimilation of an excess is equally essential. ” The liver serves as an effective regulator, maintaining in spite of all fluctuations in the supply and demand, a definite percentage of sugar such as is best adapted to keep the tissue of the body in a normal and healthy condition.” |
