What kind of dog food would anyone recommend w/o chicken?
My dog gets diarrea from dog food with chicken. I want to keep him on dry dog food. Could anyone reccoment any? When he gets it i put him on beef and rice, and this seems to do the trick. I tried chicken and rice but that makes it worse.
One of the best foods on the markets for dogs with allergies to food ingredients is CALIFORNIA NATURAL (www.naturapet.com). It is the ONLY food on the market that uses only a few ingredients to ensure that your dog is not being exposed to potential allergens. here are the ingredients of the Lamb and Rice diet as well as the Herring and Sweet Potatoe diet.
Lamb:
Lamb Meal
Ground Brown Rice
Ground White Rice
Sunflower Oil
Taurine
Vitamins/Minerals
Beta Carotene
Herring:
Herring
Barley
Oatmeal/Rolled Oats
Herring Meal
Herring Oil
Sweet Potatoes
Sunflower Oil
Natural Flavors
Vitamin E
Vitamins/Minerals
Rosemary Extract
These two foods are the absolute BEST foods for dogs with allergies (especially) the Lamb because of their limited ingredients.
Just to show you and the others that posted how BAD foods like Iams and Purina are, here are there versions of the Lamb and Rice Diet. Compare for yourself and you will see that California Natural is BY FAR superior.
Purina One Lamb and Rice:
Lamb (good but the first ingredient should be lamb MEAL)
Brewers rice (bad)
oat meal (good)
corn gluten meal (bad)
poultry by-product meal (Should NOT be in pet food ESPECIALLY a lamb and rice food)
whole grain corn (bad)
animal fat (bad)
non-fat yogurt (okay)
animal digest (bad)
malted barley (bad)
flour (bad)
salt (bad)
Iams:
Lamb Meal (good)
Brewers Rice (bad)
Corn Meal (bad)
Ground Whole Grain Sorghum (bad)
Ground Whole Grain Barley (good)
Chicken Meal (good but should NOT be in a Lamb and Rice diet)
Animal Fat (bad)
Fish Meal (good but should NOT be in a Lamb and Rice diet)
Dried Egg Product (bad)
Dried Beet Pulp (bad)
Iams and Purina are such a low quality compared to California Natural. If you truly want you dog to be healthy, you need to find something without chicken in it AND something that is good quality….not just marketed that way.
PS….don’t feed your dog beef. Dogs don’t digest beef very well so it goes in one end and out the other with very little nutrion actually absorbed into the body.

In a society where more and more people eat with plastic forks and spoons at fast food restaurants, it is still important that a man know proper dining etiquette. There are still situations where not knowing what a finger bowl is or not knowing how to pronounce an item on a menu can have an effect on what others think of you. Showing he has little working knowledge of table manners at a lunch meeting or on a job interview over dinner may have an important impact on a man’s life.Like all the books in the GentleManners series, A Gentleman at the Table is easy to use, non-threatening, and an entertaining read. |

A Great American Cook: Recipes from the Home Kitchen of One of Our Most Influential Chefs $35 Renowned chef Jonathan Waxman knows that becoming a great American cook starts at home—here he shares methods for recipes you can pull together with just a few ingredients.Widely recognized as one of the fathers of New American cuisine, Jonathan Waxman knows how to make magnificent food from just a few ingredients, roasting eggplants and red peppers for an intensely flavored soup or tossing asparagus with oranges and hazelnuts for a refreshing first course. His vision is bold, but strikingly unpretentious: many of the dishes in A Great American Cook—like the Shrimp BLT, Crispy Chicken and Goat Cheese Burritos, and Gingerbread with Brandied Plums—are free-spirited plays on classics, and his “less is more” philosophy animates suppers like flash-seared scallops on caramelized onions and chicken cooked under a brick with a sauce of rosé wine, bacon, and peas. From a versatile vegetable dish that goes with nearly every main course to handmade pastas with delicate sauces to a foolproof way to cook salmon, Waxman gives you all the techniques and recipes you need for simple, sophisticated cooking at home. |

Al Roker’s Big Bad Book of Barbecue: 100 Easy Recipes for Barbecue and Grilling $12.99 A backyard-loving guy, Al Roker’s passionate about firing up all three of his grills at once and cooking everything from Steaks As Big As Your Head and Kansas City-Style Ribs to Grilled Sea Bass. The hundred recipes in this book are casual and simple — just the way Al likes to cook for his family and friends. Like most of us, Al first learned to grill at the knee of his dad, whose policy was “the more lighter fluid, the better.” But a trip to the Memphis in May Barbecue Championship ignited a real passion, and since then Al’s grills have rarely grown cold. And while Al does have some hard-and-fast rules, like “don’t keep moving your meat around” and “never touch another man’s grill,” his food is simple yet inventive, impressive and delicious. In addition to great stuff for over the fire — Jerk Chicken, Marinated Pork Tenderloin, Kebabs Cooked Right, New Orleans-Style Barbecued Shrimp, Fish Fillets with Lemon-Parsley Sauce, Turkey on the Grill, and, from “The Wurst City in the World,” Sheboygan Bratwurst — Al Roker’s Big Bad Book of Barbecue has something for everyone, including recipes for quick-and-easy starters, marinades, main-dish salads, sides, classic American desserts, cooling drinks, vegetarian dishes, and low-fat fare. So lean back in that lawn chair and have a sip of Lemon-Lime Fizz. Munch on a Spicy Wing or some BBQ Popcorn. That brisket should take care of itself in another hour or so. |
